Daylilies are easy to grow and are pest and disease resistant. They will grow in the hottest sun or partial shade, are not fussy about soil, are floriferous, long blooming, and come in a broad range of colors. We are happy to be an official AHS (American Hemerocallis Society) display garden since 2001, joining the other 340 display gardens throughout the U.S. and Canada. To be designated a display garden, the plants of multiple hybridizers must be represented, as well as a diversity of flower form, color and pattern. All varieties must be labeled with name, hybridizer, and year of introduction for easy and accurate identification. The daylilies we offer for sale vary from year to year depending upon availability. Some newer varieties are in short supply, while a few others may be temporarily "sold out" after quantities have been depleted by the previous year's demand. Each season we acquire between 20 and 40 new or recent introductions, bringing the total number of named varieties blooming this summer to over 600. All daylilies are field grown and have survived at least one of our Iowa winters. Bloom season is during the month of July (peaking the third week) so plan to visit the garden and choose your favorites. Dozens of varieties will be available in pots; others will be freshly dug to fill your order during the month of August. |
